Plastic Free Port Stephens
Plastic is littering our oceans, beaches, gutters and pretty much everywhere we look.
Hi guys, my name is Loryn Boicos one of the owners of 4WD Tours R US in beautiful Port Stephens. Now I’m not usually one to do this kind of thing but something has come to my attention over the past few years and it’s doesn’t seem to be going away.
See these bottles … many and I mean heaps are either just opened or half full of water. As an operator working on Worimi Conservation Lands and for me to see so many littered bottles lying around and the leftover water, that I have no other use for but to use on my garden or pour on the ground is such a massive waste.
We see on the news about farmers who are struggling for water, for their families, their cattle, their farms and in so many other areas that really do affect us all. This plastic is littering our oceans, beaches, gutters and pretty much everywhere we look.
So on that note, I call upon all Port Stephens tourism operators to join us in fixing this problem. By working together the impact will be so much greater. Let’s organise the use of water coolers and biodegradable cups for our customers, land look at the possibility of water stations where people can fill up there own reusable drink bottles. Let’s cut back on being part of the problem. I think if we all stand together and take action not only with water but with all plastics. Our beautiful landscape will be around for everyone in the future to enjoy.
I’d love to hear from other Port Stephens business owners in regards to what else we can do to fix this problem.
